Sustainability - Waste

Waste related posters and educational materials can be effective tools to raise awareness about the impact of waste and to promote sustainable practices. When coupled with tips, infographics and other education and action-oriented activities, posters can help promote responsible waste management and resident engagement. 

Landfill capacity is rapidly shrinking. In Ontario alone, according to 2021 research by W2RO (Waste to Resource Ontario), existing landfill capacity is expected to be exhausted by 2032. In Vancouver, the BC landfill capacity is expected to be reached by 2037. 

Beyond capacity issues, landfills are a contributing source of methane gas, a key contributor to our carbon emissions and global warming footprint.

Reducing waste and enhancing recycling and other reuse, and repurpose strategies has become an imperative. Check out the tips sheets that can provide residents with relatively easy actions that they can take.
