Landfill capacity is rapidly shrinking. In Ontario alone, according to 2021 research by W2RO (Waste to Resource Ontario), existing landfill capacity is expected to be exhausted by 2032. In Vancouver, the BC landfill capacity is expected to be reached by 2037.
Beyond capacity issues, landfills are a contributing source of methane gas, a key contributor to our carbon emissions and global warming footprint.
